We are recruiting participants for the SMILE Study!

Do you have a second grader?

If so, you are eligible to participate in the Self-regulation and Motivation in Learning Environments (SMILE) study!

We are studying the development of children's self-regulation skills and motivation. We are looking for children to help with this study!

What would you do in the study?

  • Visit our research lab at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln's city campus (~2 hours)

  • Play computer tablet games, puzzles, and assessments of self-regulation and problem solving

  • Complete parent and child questionnaires

Who is eligible?

  • English-speaking children currently in second grade and their parent/guardian

In appreciation for your time, you will receive $70 for participating and your child will receive a gift!

The decision has been made to temporarily pause data collection at this time to protect the health and safety of our lab personnel and participants. We also share in a communal responsibility to slow the spread of COVID-19. You can still sign up for the SMILE study and we will be in contact with you as soon as data collection resumes to help you schedule a lab visit.
